Listening to TJI 2.22.73 and the sound is fantastic. I never get tired of saying it, thank you Charlie Miller! Great levels on this SBD. The Bird Song is sweet & tender. Fighting to control my urge to jump to the Dark Star > Eyes > China Doll.

"The next segment is one of those magical moments that defines the attraction of this period of the band for me. Dark Star, beginning mystically and heard via the medium of this murky audience recording, takes off for destination unknown and is immediately riveting, mesmerizing. The liquid introduction and opening statement of the main theme fuel the blast-off, which gives off sweet smokelike sound clouds wafting up to form a beautiful first verse. An incredible moment ensues where Jerry’s guitar is transformed into a fire-breathing dragon. The reality check comes on rather quickly with a segue into Eyes of the World and unfortunately this coincides with a downturn in the sound quality. The jamming gets intense here as Jerry steers the ship back into uncharted space. What a way to travel! As the band continues its fascinating journey it discovers a Stronger Than Dirt jam beneath some cosmic debris. The end appears to be in sight however with the graceful and delicate development of China Doll, closing out side A in gorgeous style.”

- The Taping Compendium, Tom Ferraro, review of his "murky" audience recording.

My first thought was that the existing transfers are already pretty damn good! But then I listened to the Bird Song from CM's latest and was blown away.

In previous transfers you "hear" the bass; in the new one you can actually "feel" it.

Well done.

Just downloaded the new CM upgrade from the torrent site. More bass and a big improvement over the old tapes we had years ago.

Anybody else notice the cut in GDTRFB?

Lets flashback to the early days of the original KFOG Deadhead Hour. David Gans played an old audience tape of the Dark Star segment with a cut/splice in it. And Charlie has fixed all of the problems associated with that 25 year old cassette...
